Marissa Laneau Dill, a 38-year-old resident of Caddo, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty on Mar. 31 to charges of involuntary manslaughter and assault resulting in serious bodily injury, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The case involves a fatal incident that took place in Bryan County within the boundaries of the Choctaw Nation Reservation. The matter is significant due to its impact on multiple victims and the involvement of federal authorities in prosecuting crimes committed in Indian Country.
According to prosecutors, Dill entered a guilty plea to one count each of involuntary manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter of an unborn child—both offenses carry potential sentences of up to eight years in prison and fines up to $250,000. She also pleaded guilty to two counts of assault resulting in serious bodily injury, each punishable by up to ten years’ imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.
Court documents state that on May 5, 2025, Dill unlawfully killed a victim by failing to devote full time and attention while driving and operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicating substance other than alcohol. The indictment alleges she crossed left of center on the roadway without due caution or circumspection. The same day, Dill was charged with causing the death of an unborn child under similar circumstances. Additionally, she assaulted two other victims who suffered serious injuries as a result.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted Dill’s plea and ordered preparation of a presentence investigation report.
Sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after consideration of federal guidelines and statutory factors. Dill remains free on bond with conditions pending sentencing.
