Nalpac announced on Apr. 7 a voluntary nationwide recall of its DTF Sexual Chocolate product after finding that it contains the pharmaceutical ingredients sildenafil and tadalafil.
The recall is important because these ingredients are found in FDA-approved prescription drugs Viagra and Cialis, which are used to treat erectile dysfunction under the supervision of a licensed health care professional. The presence of these undeclared substances could cause dangerous interactions, especially for individuals taking prescription drugs containing nitrates such as nitroglycerin, potentially leading to dangerously low blood pressure.
According to Nalpac, there have been no reports of adverse events related to this recall. The company stated that it is not the manufacturer but purchased and resold the product. The affected product is packaged in cases containing 20 retail units and can be identified by UPC 757817783069 on the label. It was available for purchase in adult retail stores as well as online through shopsexology.com and royalsins.com.
Nalpac said it is notifying customers by email about the recall and arranging for return of all recalled products. Consumers and retailers who have purchased or stocked DTF Sexual Chocolate are advised to stop using or selling it immediately and return it to the place of purchase or discard it.
Consumers with questions about this recall can contact Nalpac at 248-541-1140 or sales@nalpac.com during business hours Monday through Friday. Anyone experiencing problems related to use of this product should contact their physician or healthcare provider. Adverse reactions or quality issues may also be reported directly to the Food and Drug Administration's MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program either online, by mail, or fax using forms available at www.fda.gov/medwatch/report.htm.
The company confirmed that this recall is being conducted with knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
