U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement shares updates on arrests and victim assistance

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shared a series of updates on April 12, 2026, highlighting recent enforcement actions and outreach efforts.

In a post from the early hours of April 12, ICE reported requesting Long Island law enforcement to detain a Venezuelan national charged with attempted murder. The tweet stated: "ICE asked Long Island law enforcement to detain a Venezuelan national charged with attempted murder after allegedly trying to slash his billiards partner’s throat at Gilgo Beach February 28. The Suffolk County DA alleged Ruben Guanipa Ramirez picked up the victim from his home," (April 12, 2026).

Later that day, ICE drew attention to its Victims Of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) Office, which offers support services for victims and families affected by crimes involving immigration issues. The agency posted: "Do you know how ICE’s VOICE is helping victims and families harmed by a crime tied to immigration? To learn more about the ICE VOICE’S Office, visit our web page or call 855-48-VOICE (855-488-6423)." (April 12, 2026).

In another update, ICE described an international operation in Panama targeting organized crime. According to the agency: "ICE HSI SUPPORTS PANAMA POLICE: 15 POUNDS OF COCAINE SEIZED AND 20 ARRESTED ICE @HSI_HQ supported the @PGN_PANAMA and @policiadepanama's operation to counter organized crime in Panama, which has already led to 20 arrests, the seizure of 7 kilos of cocaine and 3 vehicles," (April 12, 2026).

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is responsible for enforcing federal laws governing border control, customs, trade, and immigration within the United States. Its Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) division often collaborates internationally on cases related to drug trafficking and organized crime.

The VOICE Office was established as part of ongoing efforts by U.S. authorities to provide resources for those impacted by crimes connected with immigration matters.
