Veterinarian arrested in Ocala on charges of transporting minors and sending threats

Gregory Ford, a 53-year-old veterinarian from Morriston, was arrested following an indictment that charges him with three counts of transporting a minor with the intent to engage in sexual activity and one count of sending threatening communications, United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced on Apr. 13.

The case is significant due to the serious nature of the allegations and the potential penalties involved. Each transportation charge carries a minimum sentence of ten years in federal prison, up to life, while the threatening communication charge could result in up to five years if convicted. Authorities have also notified Ford that his home in Morriston may be forfeited as it is alleged to have been used during these crimes.

According to information presented by prosecutors, between October 16, 2024, and May 16, 2025, Ford transported two minor victims across state lines with intent for sexual activity. On September 23, 2025, he allegedly sent a text message containing a true threat to injure a third victim.

Kehoe said that an indictment is only a formal charge and that "every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty." The investigation is being led by the FBI Birmingham Division (Florence RA), with assistance from the FBI Jacksonville Division (Ocala RA). Assistant United States Attorney Hannah Nowalk Watson is prosecuting the case; forfeiture proceedings are being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Nicole M. Andrejko.

This prosecution falls under Project Safe Childhood—a Department of Justice initiative launched in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide. The project coordinates efforts among federal agencies as well as state and local authorities to identify offenders and support victims.
