Leah B. Foley United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts | Department of Justice
A Dominican national living in Dorchester, Wilson Radhames Peguero Brea, also known as Jose Perez Antonio, was indicted by a federal grand jury on April 16 for illegally reentering the United States after being deported three times. The indictment charges him with unlawful reentry of a deported alien with a prior felony conviction. Peguero is currently in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.
The case highlights ongoing efforts to enforce federal immigration laws and address repeat offenses involving individuals with serious criminal backgrounds. According to charging documents, Peguero has entered the country illegally at least four times using various aliases, some of which belonged to U.S. citizens. His criminal record includes convictions for drug trafficking dating back to 1997, aggravated identity theft, and wire fraud.
After his first removal from the United States in 2005 following a drug trafficking conviction under an alias, Peguero allegedly returned and faced further charges related to fraudulent identification documents in Massachusetts in 2016—a case that remains unresolved. He was removed again later that year but subsequently returned once more and was charged with trafficking cocaine and fentanyl; this case is still pending on a warrant status under his alias.
In 2021, he was arrested under his true name for aggravated identity theft and wire fraud at the federal level. He was convicted of these charges on January 11, 2023, receiving a sentence of over two years in prison before being removed from the country again that same year. Authorities say he illegally reentered the U.S. yet again by February 2026 when ICE officials encountered him using false identification.
The charge carries potential penalties of up to twenty years in prison along with supervised release and fines if convicted. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge based on established guidelines.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley announced the indictment along with David T. Wesling, Acting Field Office Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston; Assistant U.S. Attorney Julissa Walsh is prosecuting the case.
Peguero remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt according to legal standards governing such cases.
