Bandy Jay Linam, a 47-year-old resident of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, pleaded guilty on Apr. 20 to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Linam faces up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The case is significant as it highlights ongoing efforts by federal authorities to address gun-related offenses among individuals with prior felony convictions. According to the indictment, Linam knowingly possessed a .22 caliber revolver and nine rounds of .22 caliber ammunition on September 30, 2025, after having been previously convicted of an offense punishable by more than one year imprisonment.
The investigation involved the Latimer County Sheriff’s Office, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The Honorable D. Edward Snow accepted Linam's plea in federal court and ordered that a presentence investigation report be completed. Sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge who will consider federal sentencing guidelines along with other statutory factors.
