First Lady Melania Trump released on April 28 the details of the State Dinner that will be held in honor of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are set to host the event at the White House as part of celebrations marking 250 years of American independence.
The State Dinner aims to recognize the longstanding relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom. The First Lady led preparations for this event, which is described as a tribute to what is referred to as the Special Relationship between both nations.
The menu for the evening includes four courses: a garden vegetable velouté with hearts of palm, toasted shallots, and micro mint; spring herbed ravioli filled with ricotta cheese and morels in a parmesan emulsion; dover sole meunière served with potato pavé, spring ramps, snow peas, and parsley oil; and dessert featuring a beehive-shaped flourless chocolate gâteau with vanilla bean crémeux custard, almond joconde sponge cake, crème fraîche ice cream, and White House honey. Selected wines will accompany each course to highlight both American winemaking traditions and shared heritage.
Entertainment will be provided by military musicians from various branches including “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, The United States Army Chorus, Army Strings, Army Herald Trumpets, Air Force Singing Sergeants, and Air Force Strings.
Decorations for the dinner reflect an appreciation for gardens shared by both countries. Cherry blossoms greet guests at entry while English garden-inspired arrangements feature lilac trees and seasonal blooms such as butterfly ranunculus, phlox, lily of the valley alongside lush greens accented by gold and white tones. Table settings include over 250 pieces from the White House vermeil collection as well as hand-crafted ceramics by American artisans like Ben Wolff. The Clinton Anniversary Service china will be used along with hand-painted menus.
