Felon sentenced to 51 months for firearm and ammunition possession in Tulsa

A Tulsa resident, Marcus Antonio Jones, was sentenced on April 28 to 51 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson announced.

Jones, age 46, received the sentence from U.S. District Judge John D. Russell. He will also serve two years of supervised release following his imprisonment.

According to the press release, police responded to an apartment in July 2025 after reports that Jones had discharged a shotgun inside the residence while intoxicated and with a juvenile present. Officers executed a search warrant at the scene and found a 12-gauge shotgun in Jones’s bedroom along with spent shells and additional ammunition. Court records indicate that Jones has previous convictions for first-degree manslaughter as well as domestic assault and battery by strangulation.

The case was investigated by the Tulsa Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mallory Richard prosecuted the case.
