Michael Bexley sentenced to 51 months for felon in possession of a firearm

Michael Bexley of Mobile was sentenced on April 16 to 51 months in prison after being convicted as a felon in possession of a firearm.

Bexley, age 36, has several prior felony convictions. These include Possession of an Unregistered Firearm in the Southern District of Alabama, Attempted Burglary First Degree, Discharging a Gun into an Occupied Building, and Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm. According to court documents, on July 10, 2025, officers from the Mobile Police Department responded to Theodore, Alabama following reports of suspicious activity. Officers found Bexley attempting to disassemble a motorcycle that had a 'For Sale' sign. The incident appeared to be an attempted theft. When police arrived at the scene, Bexley was found with a firearm. The owner of the motorcycle was identified and stated he did not know Bexley nor gave him permission to access the vehicle.

Bexley's prison term will be followed by three years of supervised release.

U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello announced the sentence. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms along with Mobile Police Department investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tandice H. Blackwood prosecuted it on behalf of the United States.
