First Lady Melania Trump hosted a state dinner for Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, according to an April 30 statement. The event marked the 250th anniversary of the United States and included several notable engagements.
The visit was described as significant because it symbolized the enduring commitment between the two nations. “The visit by Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla on the 250th anniversary of our nation transcends ceremony. It symbolizes our modern society’s enduring commitment to freedom and human potential,” exclaimed First Lady Melania Trump.
During their stay, Mrs. Trump organized a cross-cultural educational technology experience for American students as part of her Fostering the Future Together initiative. “The students enjoyed a groundbreaking educational experience which brought them to Buckingham Palace through the use of VR, while physically standing on the White House Tennis Pavilion grounds,” she said. Students participating in this event included Presidential AI Challenge State Champions, who interacted with both Queen Camilla and Mrs. Trump after their virtual reality session.
A white tie dinner was held in honor of Their Majesties, featuring floral arrangements inspired by British gardens, live music performances, cascading candelabras, and a beehive-shaped gâteau made with honey from White House bees. Distinguished guests from government, technology, business, sports, and culture attended the dinner.
Other highlights included a visit to the newly expanded White House Beehive and a historic State Arrival Ceremony that featured military honors involving nearly 500 members of the United States Armed Forces. The ceremony included a military pass in review and a 21-gun cannon salute.
