Sussex County man pleads guilty to transporting minor for sexual activity

A Sussex County man, Miles Clark, pleaded guilty on April 30 to transporting a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika accepted the plea.

The case centers on Clark, age 22, who transported a 12-year-old girl from a church near her home in Pennsylvania to his residence in Delaware, where they had sexual intercourse. According to court documents, Clark and the victim met about a week earlier through Snapchat and their conversations quickly became sexual. Clark described various sex acts he wanted to perform with the minor and sent her videos of himself masturbating. The documents state that Clark was aware of the victim's age.

Clark faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years in prison for transportation of a minor. Sentencing is scheduled for August 27, 2026. The actual sentence will be determined by the federal district court judge after considering sentencing guidelines and statutory factors.

U.S. Attorney Benjamin L. Wallace and FBI Special Agent in Charge Jimmy Paul announced the plea agreement. The FBI’s Delaware Violent Crime and Safe Streets Task Force investigated this case with help from Delaware State Police Troop 4. Assistant U.S. Attorney Claudia L. Pare is prosecuting.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative led by U.S Attorneys’ Offices and the Department of Justice’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section that aims to combat child exploitation by coordinating federal, state, and local resources.
