Advisory Commission to Meet July 27th, 2022

News Release: The Keweenaw National Historical Park Advisory Commission will convene its regular quarterly meeting at 1:00pm on Wednesday July 27th, 2022. News Release: MOUNT RAINIER NATIONAL PARK, WASHINGTON - The National Park Service (NPS) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) completed the air tour management plan for Mount Rainier National Park on July 18, 2022. The plan establishes measures to protect park resources including the Mount Rainier Wilderness, habitat for native species of wildlife, including the northern spotted owl and marbled murrelet, and visitor experiences.

Fatality in Needles District at Canyonlands National Park

News Release: Moab, Utah - On the evening of Sunday, July 17, 2022, Canyonlands National Park staff received a report of a missing male subject who was overdue after attempting a short hike from Elephant Hill in the Needles District. A joint search and rescue team comprised of Canyonlands and Mesa Verde National Park Service staff and San Juan County personnel was assembled to locate the individual.

News Release: FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Due to reduced wildland fire activity associated with the Minto Lakes Fire (#349), the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Eastern Interior Field Office rescinded the fire closure order that temporarily prohibited public access to the western portion of the White Mountains National Recreation Area (NRA). The recension took effect at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2022, leaving no remaining public access closures for the White Mountains NRA.
