FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY WEDNESDAY, JULY 14, 2004 WWW.USDOJ.GOV AG (202) 514-2007 WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Department of Justice will hold the first-ever national training conference on human trafficking July 15-17, in Tampa, Florida. The conference: Human Trafficking into the United States: Rescuing Women and Children from Slavery will feature President Bush, Attorney General Ashcroft and other Department of Justice officials who will address teams of local, state and federal law enforcement, as well as non-governmental organizations drawn from across the country where there are known concentrations of trafficking victims. Only those events listed below are open to the media - all other sessions are closed to media. Please note pre-registration requirements and arrival times below.

OPENING SESSION THURSDAY, JULY 15, 2004 WHO: Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Justice Programs, Deborah J. Daniels, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, R. Alexander Acosta WHEN: 5:00 P.M. EDT (Media arrival, registration and set-up by 4:15 P.M. KEYNOTE SESSION FRIDAY, JULY 16, 2004 WHO: President George W. Bush, Attorney General John Ashcroft, and Governor Jeb Bush WHEN: Keynote Session begins at 10:30 A.M. (media arrival at 8:00 A.M., see pre-registration requirements and arrival details below) President George W. Bush speaks at 10:50 A.M. EDT ALL MEDIA must pre-register and obtain White House Press Credentials for this session. To obtain credentials, you must FAX (on company letterhead) to the White House local Press Advance Office (813-233-4124) the following information for each individual: NAME, AFFILIATION, POSITION (reporter, photographer, etc), DATE OF BIRTH AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. Please also note whether satellite or microwave truck space will be needed. Your request must be FAXED to the White House Press Advance office no later than 5:00 P.M., THURSDAY, JULY 15, 2004. Credentials will be issued on Friday at the press registration table. To acquire the credential, each individual will be required to produce ONE of the following forms of identification on site: National, state or local photo press pass; police or fire department-issued press pass; or letter of introduction on organization letterhead (no fax or photocopies will be accepted) together with a government-issued photo ID. Arrive through the main lobby entrance and proceed to the Grand Ballroom. (The Secret Service will conduct their security sweep from 5:30-8:00 A.M., and all personnel must vacate the premises during this time.)
