‘Operation Deja Boo’ leads to 30 arrests in Arizona concerning child sex trafficking and exploitation

Operation Deja Boo, an investigation of child sex trafficking and exploitation, led to the arrests of 30 suspects throughout Arizona in October.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Phoenix and the U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) partnered with several law enforcement agencies in the investigation, according to a press release from ICE.

“During the month-long takedown, multiple valley law enforcement agencies targeted sex buyers involved in child sex trafficking and those intent on luring minors for sexual exploitation,” the release said. “The collaborative efforts of those involved led to the filing of child sex related crimes on 30 individuals through the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.”

Local police departments from Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Temple, and Chandler participated in the operation. Phoenix saw 11 arrests, Scottsdale saw eight, Mesa seven, Chandler two, and Tempe two, according to KTAR Reports.

HSI is a directorate of ICE and works in partnership with federal, state and local agencies to assist in solving cases and rescue sexually exploited children, the release said. With more than 10,400 employees, consisting of over 7,100 Special Agents assigned to 220 cities nationwide, HSI also works to protect the public from crimes of victimization.
