The partnership aims to focus on the prevention of worker injuries and their exposure to hazards, according to a press release by the Department of Labor.

“Public-private sector partnerships focused on worker safety and health training and the elimination of hazards during major construction projects are proven methods to enhance worker safety,” OSHA Area Office Director for Savannah, Georgia, Robert Stocksdale said, according to the release.

A six-story, multi-use building with 232 units and retail space is part of the project. The 245,900 square-foot facilities will be in the historic district of Savannah, the release states.

In addition to Choate Construction, the Associated General Contractors of Georgia Inc., as well as the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute - Safety, Health and Environmental Services Group are also in the partnership effort, according to the release.

The Partnership has unique agreements that are designed to encourage, assist and recognize partner efforts to eliminate serious hazards as well as enhance workplace safety and health practice, according to OSHA.
