Manufacturing Executives to Testify About Importance of Affordable and Reliable American Energy Supplies

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on June 13, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

The Subcommittees on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade and Energy and Power have scheduled a joint hearing for Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 10 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “A Competitive Edge for American Manufacturing: Abundant American Energy." Witnesses to be announced.

Next week’s hearing will explore how new technologies and innovation are unlocking domestic energy resources and helping to revive American manufacturing and bring high-paying jobs back to America. The hearing will feature testimony from executives representing a number of manufacturing sectors who are seeking to capitalize on America’s newfound abundance of affordable and reliable energy supplies.

Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade Subcommittee Chairman Lee Terry (R-NE) and Energy and Power Subcommittee Chairman Ed Whitfield (R-KY) said, “America’s wealth of affordable energy resources holds great promise for the future of manufacturing in this country. The availability of low-cost and reliable domestic energy supplies can revitalize the nation’s manufacturing sector and bring jobs and investment back to America. The continued success of our nation of builders is contingent on a true, open ‘all-of-the-above’ strategy and sensible energy policies that allow us to harness our full energy and economic potential. We look forward to hearing firsthand how our energy policies can benefit our nation’s manufacturers and what we can do to support this vital American industry."

The Majority Memorandum, a witness list, and witness testimony will be available here as they are posted.
