WASHINGTON, DC - Continuing the Energy and Commerce Committee’s ongoing oversight of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), Energy and Power Subcommittee Chairman Ed Whitfield (R-KY) today announced that the subcommittee has scheduled a hearing for Wednesday, June 26, 2013. The hearing is entitled “Overview of the Renewable Fuel Standard: Government Perspectives." Witnesses to be announced.
The committee has issued a number of bipartisan white papers this year examining a range of emerging concerns with the current RFS system and has received an outpouring of responses from interested stakeholders. Next week’s hearing will feature testimony from a panel of government witnesses who will provide an overview of the statute’s implementation.
“This committee has not taken a comprehensive look at the RFS since it was last revised in 2007. The time is now ripe to discuss which aspects of the RFS are working well and which aspects may be in need of improvement," said Whitfield. “Next week we will hear from the agencies most directly involved with implementing the program."
Additional hearing details, as well as the Majority Memorandum, a witness list, and witness testimony will be available here as they are posted.
