WASHINGTON, DC - The Energy and Commerce Committee, chaired by Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR), has announced it will markup a bill to extend federal funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and important public health programs next week.
Committee members will consider legislation extending funding for CHIP, community health centers, the Special Diabetes Programs, the National Health Service Corps, Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education, and other important public health priorities.
“CHIP, now in its 20th year, has always been bipartisan and we hope this extension will be no different," said Chairman Walden. “These public health programs play a critical role in communities across the country. It’s imperative we finish our work quickly so these vital services continue to be available for those who rely on them."
Information regarding next week’s markup can be found on the Energy and Commerce Committee’s website here.
