Transportation Secretary Foxx to be Witness at T&I Surface Transportation Reauthorization Hearing

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure on Feb. 6, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx will testify next week at hearing of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, chaired by U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster (R-PA), focusing on the next surface transportation reauthorization bill.

The Committee continues to develop a long-term surface transportation bill that improves America’s infrastructure and competitiveness, provides economic growth, and helps create jobs. The current extension of surface transportation law will expire at the end of May. Secretary Foxx, the only scheduled witness for the hearing, will provide the Department’s perspectives on reauthorization. This will be the first in a two-part series of hearings on surface transportation reauthorization, with the second hearing scheduled for later this month.

The hearing, entitled “Surface Transportation Reauthorization Bill: Laying the Foundation for U.S. Economic Growth and Job Creation Part I," is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.

More information about the hearing, including testimony, additional background information, and a live webcast, will be posted here as it becomes available.
