SENATE ENERGY & NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 8

Washington, D.C. - The Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee will hold one hearing next week. The Subcommittees on National Parks, Public Lands and Forests and will also each be conducting one hearing.

The Subcommittee for National Parks will hold a hearing to receive testimony on three bills on Tuesday, September 9 at 2:30 p.m. in SD-366. The three bills are:

S. 808, a bill to provide for expansion of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore S. 1107, a bill to enhance the recreational fee demonstration program for the National Park Service, and for other purposes; and H.R. 620, a bill to authorize the Secretary of the Interior to provide supplemental funding and other services that are necessary to assist the State of California or local educational agencies in California in providing educational services for students attending schools located within the Park. The Energy Committee will hold a hearing to consider the nominations of Suedeen G. Kelly to be a member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commision and Rick A. Dearborn to be Assistant Secretary of Energy for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs on Tuesday, September 9, at 10:00 a.m. in SD-366. The Invited Witnesses are: Suedeen Kelly

Rick Dearborn The Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests will hold a hearing to receive testimony on four bills on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 2:30 p.m. in SD-366. The four bills are: S. 432, a bill to authorize the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture to conduct and support research into alternative treatments for timber produced form public lands and lands withdrawn form the public domain for the National Forest System and for other purposes. S. 849, a bill which would provide for a land exchange in the State of Arizona between the Secretary of Agriculture and the Yavapai Ranch Limited Partnership; and S. 511, a bill which would provide permanent funding for the Payment In Lieu of Taxes program S. 1582, a bill to amend the Valles Caldera Preservation Trust Act.
