Washington, D.C. - Congressman Ernest Istook (R-OK), chairman of the Transportation and Treasury Appropriations Subcommittee, issued the following statement today: "I would oppose any effort to attach the ethanol program to the transportation appropriations bill. We have already concluded the conference report; it has already been signed by the conferees." Istook's comments were prompted by discussions in the U.S. Senate regarding efforts to move the program from the energy bill to the transportation spending bill.
