Issa Statement on D.C. Circuit Court’s Net Neutrality Ruling

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Oversight and Reform on Jan. 14, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., today released the following statement on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals’ ruling overturning the Federal Communications Commission’s net neutrality regulations.

“I agree with the decision overruling the FCC’s flawed reasoning on net neutrality. The government’s restrictions on the free flow of information were a substitution of one concerning approach to address another. Over the last 20 years, the Internet has become a bastion for free speech and innovation. The last thing we need is ill conceived and shortsighted regulation that restricts its continued growth. Overregulation is certainly not the only significant threat to the Internet. There must be a vigilant effort to defend the free flow of information."
