Washington, D.C. -Today, Rep. Carolyn Maloney, the Acting Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, and Rep. Harley Rouda, the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Environment, issued statements after Ranking Member Jim Jordan led Committee Republicans in a failed attempt to shut down a hearing examining the Trump Administration’s efforts to roll-back California’s fuel efficiency standards.
Acting Chairwoman Maloney: “Since day one of this Congress, Ranking Member Jordan has pitifully tried to obstruct oversight of the Trump Administration. He has also encouraged drug companies and others not to cooperate with the Committee’s investigations. His latest stunt today was to try to conceal from the American people the Trump Administration’s abuses in attacking fuel efficiency standards that will save American lives."
Environment Subcommittee Chairman Rouda: “I’m extremely disappointed by the actions of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle. Ranking Member Comer expressed no concerns whatsoever with today’s hearing. In fact, he requested a minority witness, which I approved. The Subcommittee’s work to conduct rigorous and responsible oversight of the Trump Administration’s environmental abuses will continue because that is our constitutional duty."
