Washington, D.C. - Last week, the Senate unanimously passed H.R. 3889, the ONDCP Technical Corrections Act of 2019. The bill, led by Reps. Harley Rouda (D-CA) and Mark Meadows (R-NC), would make needed changes to existing legislative language to improve the federal government’s response to the addiction crisis. The bill now sits on the President’s desk for his signature.
Said Rouda, “Each year, more Americans are dying from overdoses than died during the entire Vietnam War. In Orange County, drug and alcohol overdose deaths have increased by 82 percent since 2000. This bipartisan bill will help the Office of National Drug Control Policy fight the addiction crisis - and I appreciate the Senate’s swift consideration of this life-saving legislation. Thank you to Congressman Meadows and House Oversight Committee Members for their leadership on this issue. I look forward to President Trump signing this bill into law."
