Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. James E. Clyburn, Chairman of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, issued the following statement after President Biden announced that his Administration will exceed its goal of administering 200 million coronavirus vaccine shots in 100 days:
“I applaud the Biden-Harris Administration for achieving the milestone of putting 200 million vaccine shots in arms in less than 100 days. The Administration met this ambitious goal by showing strong federal leadership and working with Congress to secure critical funding in the American Rescue Plan. As a result, lives are being saved."
“As Dr. Fauci told the Select Subcommittee last week, our nation is now at a ‘critical turning point’ in the battle against this virus. Our success will depend on all Americans being vaccinated. I am pleased that President Biden has laid out robust plans to combat vaccine hesitancy and help vaccinate America’s workforce. These steps, focused on equity and supported by key investments in the American Rescue Plan, will enable our nation to finally defeat the virus, revive our economy, and save tens of thousands of lives."
