WASHINGTON-Today, House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.) joined a House Republican Leadership press conference slamming the Biden Administration for failing to “shut down" COVID-19, a promise President Biden repeatedly made to the American people.
During his remarks, Ranking Member Comer outlined many of President Biden’s broken promises, including failing to listen to experts and follow science, the abandonment of a national plan, vaccine mandates, and scarce test kits. Ranking Member Comer concluded by stating Congress must conduct oversight of President Biden’s failed response to COVID-19 and House Republicans will continue to seek answers for the American people.

Good Morning. President Biden made bold promises to defeat the coronavirus, but he has broken these promises made to the American people.
President Biden repeatedly pledged to “shut down the virus," but he hasn’t.
Just look at the facts. More people died from COVID in 2021 than 2020, and cases are surging across the nation.
President Biden promised to deliver a national plan to get the virus under control, but recently he admitted “there is no federal solution."
President Biden promised to follow the science and listen to the experts.
Yet this Administration sidelined vaccine experts at the FDA and allowed a radical teachers union to dictate the CDC’s school reopening guidance.
President Biden promised to improve the availability of COVID tests.
But as the holiday season approached and cases began to skyrocket, test kits were scarce and lines were long.
President Biden told Americans the vaccine would not be mandatory.
But then he issued several authoritarian mandates requiring American workers to be vaccinated or risk losing their jobs and healthcare plans.
President Biden’s top medical advisor, Dr. Fauci, publicly shut down the idea COVID originated from the Wuhan lab.
But privately, we now know Dr. Fauci was warned early on by top scientists the virus likely came from a lab leak and looked genetically manipulated.
Since President Biden assumed office, he has failed at every turn.
All President Biden has shut down is the American people’s confidence in his ability to lead us out of this pandemic.
Congress must conduct oversight of President Biden’s failed response, but House Democrats have refused.
Democrats pledged to be “forward looking" in their pandemic oversight, yet they continue to limit their oversight to the previous administration.
Broken promises at the White House, broken promises in Congress.
The American people deserve answers, and Republicans will work to get them.
