TSA Trusted Traveler Pilot Program Moving Forward

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Homeland Security on July 14, 2011. It is reproduced in full below.

(WASHINGTON) - Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement regarding news from Transportation Security Administrator John S. Pistole announcing more details of a trusted traveler pilot program set to commence this fall:

As a long-time supporter of the risk-based trusted traveler concept to make the screening experience for regular Americans better, I am pleased that TSA has announced it will start testing its pilot program this fall. I continue to believe that any system for expedited flight crew screening should include flight attendants - and biometrics should also be a part of the equation for identity verification. At the same time, TSA must focus on enhancing technology and training with respect to identifying fraudulent travel documents and identifications.
