There’s still time to register and make your travel plans for the annual Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Drone Symposium on April 28, 2022 in Orlando, Fla.
The FAA and the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) will co-host the in-person event, which will focus on how drones are advancing how businesses do business.
The symposium will feature a keynote presentation and expert panels to discuss the recent report from the Beyond Visual Line Of Sight Aviation Rulemaking Committee’s (BVLOS ARC), remote identification requirements, UAS Traffic Management, and regulations that promote global harmonization.
This year’s sessions:
- Messages & Learnings from the BVLOS ARC – The BVLOS ARC provided an opportunity for aviation stakeholders to develop suggestions on a regulatory path to routine BVLOS operations. Experts from the ARC will discuss the background behind the ARC’s report and its implications moving forward, and UAS Integration Office Executive Director Jay Merkle will offer insights.
- Supply and Demand: Innovation in the Drone Service Supplier Industry – Drone service suppliers help advance more complex drone operations here in the U.S. and around the world. This session will explore which states are taking the lead on infrastructure, and discuss key topics from how the evolution of industry standards fits into UAS Traffic Management (UTM) to how a harmonized approach could benefit everyone.
- Drone Integration: Where We’ve Been & Where We’re Going — Drone integration has accelerated at a rapid pace, largely due to the strong partnerships among the FAA, industry, and local, state and tribal governments. Join FAA and industry representatives as they discuss insights gained from collaboration, recent precedent-setting approvals, and other accomplishments that have enabled more complex operations and helped business to do business.
- Going Global: Take Your Drone Operations Around the World —Operations across borders require a new collaborative approach to manage operational risks. Panelists will discuss how regulators and industry are working together to address common safety and security challenges.
- An Airspace Integration Perspective: Challenges and Opportunities –The FAA is focused on ensuring the timely delivery of air traffic services while integrating autonomous operations. Join Tim Arel, acting chief operating officer of the Air Traffic Organization, as he shares his insights on the opportunities and challenges of integration from an operations perspective.
