Murray Statement on Withdrawal of Mark Green as Army Secretary Nominee

The following press release was published by the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on May 5, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

(Washington, D.C.) - Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), top Democrat on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, issued the following statement today on the withdrawal of Mark Green from consideration for the role of Army Secretary under President Trump:

“Once again, people nationwide have spoken out and made absolutely clear they reject President Trump’s hateful agenda to undo progress for the LGBTQ community or disparage others based on their sex, religion, or race. This is now President Trump’s second failed nomination for the critical post of Army Secretary. It’s time for President Trump to stop trying to divide our country and instead nominate a leader with the credibility and integrity necessary to lead our modern, diverse, all-volunteer force."
