WASHINGTON -- The following is the statement of Senate Finance Committee Chairman William V. Roth, Jr. (R-DE):
"While Senator Moynihan and I have worked hard since the beginning of the year to develop patient protection legislation, agreement is not possible at this time.
"I still believe a bipartisan, narrow, carefully crafted patients' bill of rights is possible, and intend to pursue legislation with other Senate Finance Committee Democrats and Republicans."
