Grassley Seeks End to Japanese Ban of U.S. Beef

Sen. Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Finance Committee, today met with the Ambassadorof Japan to the United States, Ryozo Kato, to discuss Japan’s continued ban on imports of U.S. beef.Grassley made the following comment after the meeting.

“I appreciated the time that Ambassador Kato took to meet with me on this important issue.As I have before, I impressed upon the Ambassador the great importance that I, as well as other senators, place upon the reopening of the Japanese market to U.S. beef. I’m going to continue to push to keep this issue on the front burner until it’s resolved, and Japanese consumers can enjoy American beef if they want."
