Hatch Statement on WTO Airbus Ruling

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, today applauded confirmation by the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization (WTO) that subsidies provided by the European Union to assist with the launch of civil aircrafts by Airbus are inconsistent with WTO rules. Hatch issued the following statement:

“With this ruling, we have reached a major milestone in international trade policy, sending a strong signal to our trading partners that in order to compete in the 21st century global economy they must live up to their obligations and fully abide by the rules-based trading system."
