Time to Act on Trade

The following press release was published by the United States Committee on Finance Ranking Member’s News on June 4, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

Returns “U.S. negotiators to the bargaining table," secures high-standard trade agreements that“would benefit Americans" and promotes “good-paying, high-quality American jobs" is how thought leaders and lawmakers in Washington are describing the Congressional Trade Priorities and Accountability Act of 2015 (TPA 2015), bipartisan legislation to renew Trade Promotion Authority (TPA).

Last month, the Senate passed the measure with a strong bipartisan vote. With one major hurdled cleared and action soon expected in the U.S. House of Representatives, the case for this trade tool is clear: TPA 2015 makes negotiations transparent and puts Congress back in control of trade policy.
