Hatch Announces Executive Session to Consider Commerce, HHS Nominees

WASHINGTON - Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) today announced the committee will mark up nominations for the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m., in Room 215 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

The committee will consider the following nominees:

* Gilbert B. Kaplan, of the District of Columbia, to be Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, United States Department of Commerce, vice Stefan M. Selig, resigned; and

* Matthew Bassett, of Tennessee, to be an Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services, United States Department of Health and Human Services, vice Jim R. Esquea; and

* Robert Charrow, of Maryland, to be General Counsel of Health and Human Services, United States Department of Health and Human Services, vice William B. Schultz.
