Wyden Statement on Cuts to Navigator Funding That Further Sabotages Americans’ Health Care

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on July 10, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued a statement following an announcement by the Trump Administration that it is further slashing funding for the navigator program and pushing those who apply for navigator grants to advocate for junk plans that hurt people with pre-existing conditions:

“This move amounts to federally-funded fraud: paying groups to sell unsuspecting Americans on junk plans that allow insurance companies to deny care on a whim and charge whatever they want is nothing but a scam," Wyden said. “Trump’s sabotage crusade is making it harder and harder for families to afford quality insurance that isn’t filled with loopholes and exceptions that benefit insurance companies."
