Wyden Statement on Trump Greenlighting China's Mass Internment of Uyghurs

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on June 22, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued the following statement in response to Donald Trump’s admission that he OK’d the Chinese government’s abhorrent mass internment and human rights violations of its Uyghur population:

“Donald Trump has now admitted that he condoned the Chinese government’s internment of a million Uyghurs because he thought it might get him a better trade deal. In the end, Trump’s deal failed to deliver results for American farmers and workers, sold out American values and once again proved Trump is an easy mark for China’s leaders."
