Rangel / McCrery Welcome Renewed WTO Negotiations

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on Jan. 30, 2007. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles B. Rangel joined Ranking Member Jim McCrery today in the following joint statement on recent World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiations at the World Forum in Davos, Switzerland:

“We welcome the developments over the weekend in Davos concerning the WTO negotiations, and the willingness of our trading partners to return to the negotiating table. This window of opportunity is short, but we hope there is a chance to move forward in the negotiations by focusing creatively on practical outcomes rather than abstract formulas. We both look forward to working with Ambassador Schwab to assess our trading partners` proposals and further develop the U.S. position."
