Health Care Stakeholders Savings Announcement Welcome

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on May 11, 2009. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Today key health care stakeholders met with President Barack Obama to discuss their efforts to develop a consensus around reform proposals to reduce health care costs. Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles B. Rangel (D-NY) issued the following statement in response:

“I am more than pleased that the commitment made by the stakeholders at President Obama’s recent Health Care Summit is closer to becoming a reality. Their cooperation is essential to the efforts undertaken by the President and Congress. Working together, I am optimistic that we can produce a uniquely American health reform bill that objectively slows health spending growth and ensures everyone has access to care that meets their needs."
