WASHINGTON - Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Sander Levin and Trade Subcommittee Ranking Member Charles Rangel today made the following statements after President Obama nominated Mike Froman to be United States Trade Representative.
LEVIN: “I warmly congratulate Mike Froman on his nomination. Mike brings deep experience over many years, having served in a variety of key roles relating to trade and global economic issues. He brings this experience at an important time, as the U.S. participates in increasing economic globalization, as embodied in the challenges and opportunities within our negotiations of TPP and The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. I look forward to working with Ambassador Froman as part of a close consultation between the Administration and Congress."
RANGEL: “The trade agenda today is one of the most ambitious in recent memory. Ongoing consultations with Congress will be critical to ensuring the success of that agenda, and I look forward to building a constructive partnership with Mike and his team at USTR."
