This is NOT a Joke: U.S. Has Highest Corporate Tax Rate

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on May 8, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, DC - Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) made the following statement on the second anniversary of the U.S. having the highest corporate tax rate in the industrialized world.

“Our current tax code is a joke. Our high corporate tax rate is a wet blanket on the economy, preventing businesses from growing and hiring here in the U.S. We can no longer sit on the sidelines while other countries outpace us. The tax reform draft I crafted simplifies the complex code and lowers the corporate rate so we can make this country a more attractive place to invest and hire. Tax reform will result in millions of new jobs, increased economic growth and higher paychecks for American workers."
