WASHINGTON - Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI) today made the following statement regarding President Obama's proposal to make much-needed investments in infrastructure by taxing the overseas profits of U.S. corporations:
"The President's budget proposal takes direct aim at two of the nation's most pressing challenges, addressing an international tax system that encourages corporations to keep profits offshore rather than creating jobs in the U.S., and providing desperately needed revenue for our nation's crumbling infrastructure. I look forward to reviewing the plan in detail in the days to come, beginning with Secretary Lew's appearance before our Committee on Tuesday. I hope Republicans will give this proposal the full and serious consideration that it deserves."
