SPRINGFIELD, MA - Tomorrow, April 29, at 11:30 a.m. EDT, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) will participate in a video discussion facilitated by the United States Conference of Mayors about the COVID-19 pandemic’s fiscal impacts on cities and the challenges these local leaders now face. A bipartisan delegation of five mayors representing cities from across the country will participate in the conversation with Chairman Neal to share their insights and highlight ways Congress can support their recovery efforts.
In advance of the discussion, Chairman Neal said: “The COVID-19 crisis has had devastating effects on states and localities. The federal government needs to deliver assistance so that communities can continue to provide essential services and keep frontline workers like EMTs, firefighters, and police officers on payroll. I appreciate the opportunity to have this important conversation with the U.S. Conference of Mayors to hear directly from leaders across the county about the challenges their cities face and what the federal government can do to help."
