THE WOODLANDS, TX - Ways and Means Republican Leader Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement on the passing of Rep. John Lewis (D-GA):

“John Lewis, who walked in the wind to bring equality to America, is now walking in the heavens with his Creator. We are a better nation, and a better people, because of him.

“It is a blessing to have known John, and to have served with him on the Ways and Means Committee. When I look down the dais I’ll be sad to miss this friend but proud of having worked with such a remarkable man.

“Cathy and I pray for his family and for his beloved Atlanta. God bless you, friend."
