Following a strong bipartisan Senate vote (91-4) in support of a six-year renewal of the Generalized System of Preferences and renewal of the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (and reauthorization of the process for two more cycles), Ways and Means Republican Leader Kevin Brady (R-TX) urged action in the House:

“Strong bipartisan support for Senator Crapo’s amendment shows it’s clearly time to move forward on helping American small businesses, manufacturers, and consumers compete against China and continue our leadership on trade.

“Since the Generalized System of Preferences and the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill lapsed in December, American workers have been kept waiting for too long.

“Because of the cost of continued delay, I look forward to working closely with Chairman Neal to reauthorize these programs quickly."
