Readout: Neal, Wyden Meeting with Yellen, Deese on Moving Forward on Build Back Better Agenda

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on June 24, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden (D-OR) today met with Secretary Yellen and Director Deese to discuss key priorities from the American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan on which their committees are working.

They agreed that the next several weeks would be critical in delivering tax relief for middle-class families, clean energy tax measures tied to climate outcomes, policies that support the creation of good new jobs, paid leave, strengthening the unemployment insurance system, child care, and other key investments in our economy and families. They also spoke about the importance of reforming the tax code to ensure mega-corporations and the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share, as well as overhauling the international tax code to end incentives to ship jobs overseas, and instead reward companies that invest in American workers. They committed to continuing their work, and moving to incorporate these reforms in the budget resolution.
