Neal Praises Upcoming Availability of No-Cost COVID-19 Tests for Medicare Beneficiaries

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on Feb. 7. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) issued the following statement regarding the Biden Administration’s announcement that beginning in early spring, Medicare beneficiaries will be able to get eight over-the-counter Covid-19 tests per month for no cost:

“I greatly appreciate that the Biden Administration found a way to ensure that Medicare beneficiaries could receive at-home COVID-19 tests free of cost. As part of the population most vulnerable to the virus, beneficiaries who may have been exposed need the ability to determine their status and quickly seek any necessary medical attention. Broadening access to over-the-counter tests will save lives, and I applaud the Administration’s work to support Medicare beneficiaries during this challenging time."
