Department of State: Walsh led delegation for commission on 'strengthening the use of digital evidence in criminal justice and countering cybercrime'

The U.S. Department of State announced Jim Walsh represented the U.S. at the 31st United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

According to a May 16 news release, Walsh, principal deputy assistant secretary of state for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, will lead the delegation to advance international cooperation on important anti-crime and criminal justice issues. The commission ran May 16-20 in Vienna, Austria.

"The 31st CCPCJ's theme is centered on 'strengthening the use of digital evidence in criminal justice and countering cybercrime, including the abuse and exploitation of minors in illegals activities with use of the Internet,'" the State Department release reported.

The news release noted the U.S. also hosted a side event on a multinational cybercrime operation.

According to the media note on the UN website, the commission is a key policymaking department of the UN and the CCPCJ will focus on actions that would combat crime on the national and international level.

Moreover, the website notes the CCPCJ will help member nations combat international crime.
