Washington, D.C. - Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) issued the following statement on Ann Calvaresi Barr becoming the Inspector General for the U.S. Agency for International Development.
“For more than four years, the U.S. Agency for International Development lacked a permanent Inspector General to oversee more than $20 billion in U.S. foreign assistance and development programs. The Committee on Foreign Affairs repeatedly called upon President Obama to fill this critical vacancy and ensure accountability for American taxpayers. I am glad the administration finally put forward a suitable replacement, and I look forward to working closely with Inspector General Barr."
Note: Chairman Ed Royce sent two bipartisan letters on February 4, 2013 and Feb. 25, 2015 urging President Obama to nominate a suitable candidate to fill the Inspector General vacancy.
