LIEBERMAN COMMENTS ON SECRET SERVICE LEAKS

The following press release was published by the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on Oct. 19, 2012. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON- Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., Friday issued the following statement in response to selective leaks from the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General’s investigation into the Secret Service scandal.

“This unauthorized leak of sensitive, selective information from the IG’s report is unfair to the United States Secret Service and its Director, Mark Sullivan," said Lieberman.

“Both have served our nation honorably and ably for a long time and deserve the benefit of a presumption of innocence unless real evidence leads to a different conclusion. I will await the Inspector General's finished report before making any judgments."
