WASHINGTON, DC - Today, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement now that the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act is in effect:

“With this bipartisan, bicameral law now in full force, the United States is showing the world that we will not be complicit in egregious human rights violations, and the Chinese government will finally be held accountable for their exploitation of forced labor. Change is only possible through strict implementation and enforcement measures, and the Ways and Means Committee stands ready to assist the Biden Administration in meeting this challenge."
